About Dupla

Dupla is the dynamic combination of circus performers Hege Eriksdatter Østefjells and Madeleine McGowan. Both trained at The Circus Space, London, in the disciplines of Corde Lisse and Silks. Together we perform as Dupla, specialising in high skill level double rope with a startling theatrical approach. Through a variety of climbs, slides, rolls, drops and twists we move about the rope and each other, morphing from one beautiful image to the next.

We want our rope work to tell the sort of stories that we need in our lives; stories that bring a smile to the lips, touch a nerve or ring a bell!

This year so far we have created three new acts: Nordic Tales, a magical journey into the heart of Scandinavian folklore; Ahoy Captain!, a cheeky cabaret act which gives a nod to the lost world of 1940s cartoons; and Under my Skirt! Two fine ladies, one huge skirt, and the powerstruggle for who gets to wear it through some nifty ropework.

We have performed at Lillesands Da'ene festival in Norway; as part of The Circus Space ensemble for the opening of Watch This Space at The National Theatre, London; and at Les Contre Plongee festival in Clermont Ferrand, France.

We love to perform in a variety of settings, and are always happy to create new work, or to perform within ensembles. We are also interested in experimenting with aerial equipment, travelling, and collaborations with other artists.
